With Mitt Romney's
attack against half of America now public for all to see, what's his biggest political problem?
Is it the fact that Mitt Romney's own words validated the Obama campaign's entire argument against Romney—without the Obama campaign lifting a finger?
Is it the fact that the message Romney delivered was so toxic that not even his fellow Republicans want to be caught defending him over it? (See Linda McMahon, Scott Brown, Dean Heller, Roy Blunt, and the entire senate GOP leadership. Not to mention pundits like Peggy Noonan and Bill Kristol.)
Or is it the fact that Romney not only admitted his tax plan won't help nearly half of Americans, but also that by arguing 47 percent of Americans won't benefit from lower income tax rates, he effectively conceded that trickle-down economics is a myth?
Or is it the fact that the other implication of Mitt Romney's argument is that 47 percent of Americans don't pay enough taxes?
Or maybe, the answer is yes to all above, and Mitt Romney's problem is that he's turned himself into Montgomery Burns—or, what Montgomery Burns would be if he were dumb enough to try to run for president.
