DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too!
Inspiration: the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, esp. to do something creative.
Quilting is a very creative & innovative craft. Many quilters are inspired by other quilters, patterns, and designs. Nature, Scenic Beauty, a Grandmother's Comforter/Traditional Design, Geometrical Design, and a Portrait are wonderful inspirations for quilters.

A great place to get inspired is a quilt show. Quilting guilds usually have a show once a year or try out the large shows. One show in my area is the Pacific International Quilt Fest; which will begin October 11 through October 14. PIQF is one of the largest shows. Quits on display, workshops and merchants/vendors selling their quilting goodies makes this event a lot of fun. Wear comfortable shoes. It's held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in the San Francisco Bay Area.
What inspires you? What influences your design? Do you prefer traditional or modern designs? Do you see a pattern and follow it exactly? or do you change the pattern to suit your own design?
