Oh noes! Conservative Super PACs are going to spend $500 million on attack ads, which may turn the race upside down in the stretch. Or so we've heard.
But if all you have is crap to sell, it doesn't matter how high your pile of it is. It's still just crap. Here's a new ad from the "Campaign for American Values PAC", a pro-Romney Super PAC running ads (this one apparently costing over $28,000 to "create" and produce) in swing states.
Remember, this is an effort to help Mr. Romney win:
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
I mean, seriously, is this ad supposed to convince even one undecided voter to switch to Romney from Obama? Is this the way they think we middle-class people talk? This is just sad, really. Did you notice in the last few seconds of the ad the visual of what American families are now supposed to look like? Nice hair on that tyke.
The GOP establishment realizes that gay marriage is no longer a winning issue for them, so they de-emphasize it. Super PACs are, by definition, funded by people who have extreme views on at least one issue; why else would someone write $10 million or $100 million checks? So the crap that they'll be spewing as the election nears will be as crazy, and as clumsy, as this ad. And it's going to get a lot worse. I think that we're headed in this election to seeing some incredibly entertaining ads created by the GOP Super PACs, meaning ads establishing new lows in the categories of race-baiting, fear mongering, and deceit (and just general treachery).
But it won't work. Not anymore.
