Last week I saw this Facebook post from State Representative Cyrus Habib:
Marco Collins was right. Stop whatever you're doing and check this out right now.
(Marco Collins is a local radio personality and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.)
He was referring to Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson's Stairway to Heaven cover last week at the Kennedy Center, backed up by an orchestra and gospel choir, in front of Led Zep members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones, not to mention Barack and Michelle Obama.
Local TV personality Nancy Guppy posted:
Just watched Heart's Ann & Nancy Wilson perform "Stairway to Heaven" @ the Kennedy Center tribute to Led Zeppelin. Holy Mother of God.
Yeah, we are a little biased here in Seattle, but this was a truly incredible performance. It brought tears to the eyes of Robert Plant. Mine too. Many of you have already seen this. But for those of you that haven't (at least those of you from my generation), it is a must see. Actually, a must hear. Make sure you use a good set of earbuds or headphones. The audio quality is excellent.
Enjoy!
The interview was pretty good, too.
Ann: "It was no pressure or anything. It was like, we were asked to close the whole show by doing the finale in the Led Zeppelin tribute to Stairway to Heaven.
Nancy: "With the President and Led Zeppelin in the room."
Ann: "So..."
Nancy: "No big deal".
Update: Jesus. I didn't even know that was Jason Bonham on drums. That makes it even better!
