How is it that it was Democrats all squeamish in Kentucky recently over fricking hemp legalization? Because police and other traditional Democratic special interests own them of course.
Supporters of Senate Bill 50 say that hemp could provide much-needed jobs and cash for Kentucky farmers if a federal ban on the growing of hemp is lifted.
But House Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, and others questioned whether hemp production would create the jobs its backers said it would create. Stumbo ultimately voted for Senate Bill 50

The Democrats went along because the Repubs outflanked them, leaving them clueless and looking stupid and outdated. Obama and Holder are similarly left looking just as stupid right now with Colorado and Washington state citizens telling them to go fuck themselves, and from all accounts, they're clueless what to do.
Obama of course has tried to have it both ways over the years, saying on one hand that it's a low priority for enforcement, and then turns around and lets Holder, who has to look out for his lucrative post-government lobbying career, probably for the usual suspects below, start raiding hundreds of marijuana dispensaries.
Over 850,000 people were arrested last year for marijuana-related offenses. With such devastation of lives for a God-given plant that has been rated as less harmful to society than coffee, cigarettes, and alcohol, one has to ask: who would want to keep this travesty going? Who is corrupting these hapless Democrats?
We'll soon see that Obama and Holder fold to this consortium of the usual suspects oncd again because history has shown that's what they do.
I'll be shocked if not. It doesn't matter. They can't stop this now. Even they know it, but they have to look out for their revolving door careers.
1.) Police Unions: Police departments across the country have become dependent on federal drug war grants to finance their budget.
2.) Private Prisons Corporations: Private prison corporations make millions by incarcerating people who have been imprisoned for drug crimes, including marijuana.
3.) Alcohol and Beer Companies: Fearing competition for the dollars Americans spend on leisure, alcohol and tobacco interests have lobbied to keep marijuana out of reach.
4.) Pharmaceutical Corporations: Like the sin industries listed above, pharmaceutical interests would like to keep marijuana illegal so American don’t have the option of cheap medical alternatives to their products.
5.) Prison Guard Unions: Prison guard unions have a vested interest in keeping people behind bars just like for-profit prison companies.

I snipped above for fair use purposes but this blogger spells out the proof.
In 2008, the California Correctional Peace Officers Association spent $1 million to defeat a measure that would have “reduced sentences and parole times for nonviolent drug offenders while emphasizing drug treatment over prison.” They want to keep them locked up by God for the almighty dollar!
Federal lobbying disclosures show that police union lobbyists have pushed for stiffer penalties for marijuana-related crimes. Why? Because they get govt money to keep their business of anti-constitutional home invasions going.
As Republic Report’s Matt Stoller noted last year, Corrections Corporation of America, one of the largest for-profit prison companies, revealed in a regulatory filing that continuing the drug war is part in parcel to their business strategy. Prison companies have spent millions bankrolling pro-drug war politicians and have used secretive front groups, like the American Legislative Exchange Council, to pass harsh sentencing requirements for drug crimes.

It's their business strategy to lock up Americans. It's the police union's business strategy to invade and terrorize Americans when looking for a proscribed plant. Big pharma, Tobacco, and Alcohol is engaging in monopolistic suppression of competition.
And it's always ALEC behind these two-faced Repubs and back-stabbing Democrats.
Democrats must decide between Progressives and the Professional Left once again.... or face a 2010-style wipe-out, once again. We're waiting Mr Holder. What's it going to be?
One almost feel sorry for the predicament of the hapless Professional Left in DC, the SOBs.
