"Thank you for coming here! We learned about windmills."
While there's important wrangling over energy policy and lobbying in the marble halls of DC or Lansing, while K street does its K-street thing, there's a whole 'nother group of important folks who I like to think are less than incidental to the process of policy making: Everybody Else.
Our organization, the West Michigan Jobs Group, reaches out to Everybody Else. And it's been a busy couple weeks of doing it.
Saturday we attended an Earth Fair event:
On Tuesday we met with a preschool to talk about renewable energy.
Thursday we organized and sponsored a presentation on solar setup basics to give Do It Yourselfers some direction on smaller projects.
Then on Friday we gave another talk about renewable energy to preschooler's.
And on Friday afternoon we finalized the paperwork to start a scholarship fund for Muskegon County students who go on to study in a renewable energy field.
We've also given a contribution to help send Muskegon County highschoolers to the Destination Imagination Global Finals for their wind energy project.
We're out there reaching out to the community showing that renewable energy is here, it's affordable, it's reliable, it's cleaner, and it creates jobs in our communities -- here's a map we're assembling to show Michigan businesses in the renewable energy or energy efficiency sector.
We've been doing this stuff since 2009. If you'd like to help us continue talking to people at the community level about renewable energy, please help us raise $5000 for the next year to continue doing what we're doing. West Michigan Jobs Group is a Michigan based non-profit organization focused on promoting independently owned businesses and sustainable industries at the community level.
