Short diary. Those who brave the wilds of RedState have doubtless already seen this and had their guffaw. I thought I'd share with others.
Erick Erickson has an article currently (evening of Aug 9th) on the front page of RedState called We Should Not Have To Hold Our Noses, regarding the recent Cory Gardner wrrgrrbl. Readers who are familiar with the man's style can tell an E. E. article within a few sentences. This one's a classic. There are enough belly-laugh lines in here to make it hard to pick three paragraphs, but I'm actually going to limit myself to two, the second of which contains the sentence I find... quite... remarkable.
We should not be afraid to reject them [incumbent Republicans] in primaries. In fact, until we start collecting scalps on our own side they will neither respect us nor fear us. If Jesse Benton wants to hold his nose and sell his soul to the establishment, so be it. But my soul and my principles are not for sale, which is why I’m happy to support challengers to Republicans in primaries.
You should too. For those who fear we risk the majority by doing so, what is the purpose of the majority if it won’t do as you want once you have it? These guys are loyal only to themselves — not to the country and not to you. They will go to the ends of the earth to enact amnesty, but not to stop Obamacare.
Bracketed text and emphasis are mine. The collecting scalps line is one of the funnier ones from this article, but the line about the purpose of the majority... well... I'd say "offered without comment," but here I am commenting. Well, when I can stop laughing, that is.
Oh, Erick, Erick, Erick. We get it. We get that you know that we know you don't give a single red-assed no-lube f*ck about what the majority of American citizens actually care about. We get that you are zero percent about information and one hundred percent about manipulation through misinformation. Really, we understand these things. You expect us to. (If you don't, you should.)
But you shouldn't say it that baldly, that obviously, where someone not totally part of your cadre might hear you. It just, you know, sounds bad.
