And they look just like Rosa Parks too
As if thinking that they can use the threat of government shutdown to defund Obamacare
weren't delusional enough:
“It only takes one with passion — look at Rosa Parks, Lech Walesa, Martin Luther King,” Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), who was elected to the House last year, told the New York Times in a story published Friday. "People with passion that speak up, they’ll have people follow them because they believe the same way, and smart leadership listens to that.”
Yes, with today's vote, House Republicans became just like Rosa Parks and Lech Walesa and MLK, especially if they get their way and President Obama and Senate Democrats sign their bill into law.
Of course, the only thing less plausible than someone confusing Ted Yoho for Rosa Parks is the notion that President Obama will repeal Obamacare, especially in light of the fact that the bill Republicans passed today only keeps the government open until December 15. (Yes, you read that right: The GOP offer today was was to postpone a government shutdown for 75 days in exchange for repealing Obamacare.)
But I guess in the alternate universe where the GOP plan is plausible, maybe Republicans are just like Parks, Walesa, and King. At least until December 15, anyway, at which point they'd turn right back into what they are today: Power-hungry authoritarian political hostage-takers who would rather blow up the government than accept they're on the losing side of a disagreement.
