The Republicans are attacking our democracy. They are engaged in warfare. (As I write this Chuck Todd of MSNBC is wondering why the Democrats are using such "heated rhetoric" in response to a reasonable House Republican proposal.)
So the war is being waged against us, against America, and we aren't going to be able to rely upon MSNBC, or the New York Times, or even Daily Kos to fight this battle on our behalf.
It is time to take to the streets, in large numbers, to intimidate and overwhelm the Republican Tea Partiers. The Republicans are already taking to the streets, marching under the Confederate Flag and the Gasden Flag. They are starting to drive the media narrative, much as they successfully did with the "Brooks Brothers Riot" in Miami-Dade County on November 19, 2000.
I see our Congressional leaders are haltingly, stumblingly, trying to register their displeasure with the Tea Party House Republicans. They aren't very effective, in my opinion.
The Republicans don't have any high cards, but they are the ones who are coming across as confident, responsible leaders. They are lying through their teeth, but they are very effective at it.
What really bugs me is that our Democrat leaders are now trying to defend the compromise Reid and McConnell may have arrived at. That means that we are (inadequately) defending a watered down compromise while Republicans are still aggressively pushing their agenda. And of course, the false equivalency still prevails, meaning all the public (which is just now tuning in to this crisis) hears is "Why can't Democrats and Republicans negotiate and compromise and solve this problem?"
I am ranting, but I want to ask this? How can we take the battle to the reThugs? (Now Glenn Thrush of Politico is on MSNBC agreeing with Chuck Todd, wondering why the Democrats are being so intransigent.)
Will anyone join me in demonstrating in front of Dave Reichert's Issaquah office. or in front of the Federal Building in downtown Seattle? And is there any point in doing so?
