In 1834, most of Britain's Palace of Westminster, home to Parliament, caught fire and burned to the ground

In 1962, the Cuban Missile Crisis began after President Kennedy was shown photographic evidence of nuclear missiles on the ground in Cuba.
In 1964, China tested its first nuclear weapon.
In 1968, U.S. Olympic athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos gave the black power salute as they received their medals. For this they were booed by the crowd and kicked off the team.
In 1991, at Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas, crashed his pickup truck through the front window, and proceeded to stalk and kill 23 people using a Glock 17 pistol and a Ruger P89. Most of his victims were women.
