The keypad is mightier than the sword
Choosing well is a science.
Fixing bad choices is an art.
Restoration is never complete,
but beauty and usefulness can return.
Invention and intention always rhyme,
but may not mesh as well as we would like.
Blankets will warm the living.
Fire and light go farther.
Our feet and hands test and tap
a dance on the golden smoke.
In the moonless morning
the sky is pummeled with clouds.
They press the air.
The electric blackbird abacus
calculates, cogitates, and coheres
on the radius of sun and fire.
The knuckles of the day
are gloved in gray pallor.
The rust of derelict implements
is enveloped in bluestem and thistle.
The life we choose is not promised.
The loop of asphalt
wears away more than rubber tires.
