In the aftermath of the government shutdown and the debt ceiling extortion of President Obama and the American people, we can now see just how terrible the non-strategy was for the right-wing radical Republicans in Congress.
Just released this week, a CNN poll shows the tea party has a 56 percent disapproval rating and the Republican Party has a 64 percent disapproval rating.
Senator John McCain and Representative Peter King of Long Island complained about Ted Cruz and his call for a government shutdown, because these poll numbers and the anger of average Americans is just what the McCains and Peter Kings of the GOP feared.
And why wouldn’t the American people be angry and disgusted? It turns out some of the dumbest people in America were elected to Congress as Republicans following Cruz like Brooks Brothers clad lemmings looking for the closest cliff to jump off and trying to take our country with them.
As we know all politicians have big egos. You couldn’t run for office and expose yourself if you didn’t. But Ted Cruz is a classic, diagnosable, clinical narcissist thinking the whole world revolves around him and his deranged and dangerous ideas.
Now some who read this will say, “What does it matter? Americans will forget by the 2014 elections.” And of course they will if we don’t keep this memory, this extortion, this madness and this treason fresh. Politics is not a board game with moves governed within a set parameter by the roll of dice. Politics is fluid and dynamic with players moving on their own, using whatever is at hand to get an advantage. We must keep alive the memory of this awful waste of $24 billion, the kids who went hungry, the families without paychecks, the attempt to extort the President and all of us — and use this memory as a blunt instrument in the elections of 2014.
