Received this e-mail today from Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D. NH) regarding two pieces of legislation she has co-authored that she is trying to get Congress to pass
The American manufacturing comeback story begins in New Hampshire.
After years of plant closures and job losses, manufacturing is finally reemerging. I saw promising signs last week as I toured busy facilities in Newington, Manchester and Salem.
The Corfin plant in Salem shows how manufacturing can grow again. Backed by a small business grant program that I helped create to promote small business exports, Corfin has increased its New Hampshire workforce by 10%.
To drive more growth, I’m co-sponsoring two bipartisan jobs bills. First, the Shaheen-Cochran On-the-Job Training Act provides workers with skills to compete. Shaheen-Portman cuts energy waste and creates 136,000 green jobs.
Manufacturing doesn’t just bring good-paying jobs – it strengthens communities and opportunity.
You can help by joining me and my colleagues in supporting the manufacturing comeback.

For decades, manufacturing jobs have been the backbone of a strong middle class. While many of the jobs are gone, manufacturing is still critical to our economy – each dollar in manufacturing sales leads to $1.34 in economic activity, spurring more job creation.
The signs of growth in towns like Salem can be a preview of a national manufacturing renaissance. But first, Congress must stop the manufactured crises and start focusing on creating jobs.
Add your voice in support of manufacturing jobs. Tell Congress: it’s time to focus on jobs:
