Received this e-mail from Governor Mark Dayton (D. MN) regarding raising the minimum wage:
The $5.25 minimum wage in Minnesota is one of the lowest in the country and hasn’t increased since 2005. Ours is lower than all our Midwest neighbors.
What does that say about Minnesota and our commitment to working men and women?
To me, it says: we can and must do better.
In so many areas – job growth, expansion of education – we’re leading the nation, but on making sure 350,000 hardworking Minnesotans earn the minimum wage they deserve, we’ve fallen behind.
Someone working full-time, trying to support a family, shouldn’t have to live below the poverty line. That’s why I’m standing with the DFL to call for an increase in the minimum wage in the next legislative session.
Will you stand with working men and women?

Last year our state’s economic growth was the fifth best of all fifty states. Yet, too many workers are being left behind.
We need a minimum wage of $9.50/hr. that allows people to support themselves.
With the will, we can make this happen. I ask you to join me in standing for working Minnesotans.
