Anyone who watched Game 4 of the World series saw David Ortiz gather 24 of his Red Sox teammates in the dugout at the start of the 6th inning and give them a pep talk on winning the game. Which they then did.
Afterwards, Ortiz was asked how learned to be such a motivational speaker. According to ESPN's Rick Reilly, Big Papi explained that he had learned from the Big Dog:
"Where did Ortiz learn to orate like that?
'Bill Clinton, he makes a lot of money making speeches,' Ortiz said. 'And he changes a lot of lives with his speeches. I watch him. I learn. If you can get people to listen, they will react.'
Their ears ringing, the Red Sox suddenly believed in a place called Hope."
Following Ortiz's speech, Dustin Pedroia singled, Ortiz himself worked a walk, and Jonny Gomes hit the 3-run home run that won the game for Boston.
