We have a bit of a double standard here.
We have a word for when market forces or new technologies cause economic or social upheaval. It's called "creative destruction". Some call it "progress".
When the automobile laid waste to the horse and buggy, it was part of the natural order. Progress.
When computers laid waste to typewriters it was part of the natural order. Progress.
When the Internet laid waste to print journalism, it was part of the natural order. Progress.
But when democratically enacted government change causes any type of upheaval it's called "unintended consequences". A disaster.
We're a society beset by change.
We're so willing to forgive, even ENDORSE change and upheaval when it's caused by market or technological forces.
But........When change it's caused by democratically determined forces, such as health insurance reform, that change we're so willing to overlook in all other cases is unwelcome, evil, FOLLY.
This double standard is what many wise men refer to as "bullshit"
