Cripple Creek District, Colorado - All Civilian Prisoners Released from Military Bullpen
Charles Kennison and W. F. Davis have been turned over to the civil authorities by the military. These were the last of the civilian prisoners held captive in the bullpen at Camp Goldfield. Kennison is the president of Miners' Union No. 40, and has endured many arrests and releases at the hands of the military. His latest arrest occurred on September 18th. His wife was not allowed to see him while he was held captive by the military.
Meanwhile, General Chase has been summoned to Denver. It seems that all is not well between the two generals, Chase and Bell. There are rumors of various scandals that swirl about the head of Chase. Some say there are problems concerning money matters, and others say that a woman may be involved in some way. These are only rumors, however, and no official word has been released as to why Governor Peabody has recalled General Chase from the strike zone.

Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan - Governor Ferris Further Reduces Number of Troops
Governor Ferris has been steadily reducing the number of troops in Michigan's Copper Country. At this time there remain only 17 officers with 187 men under their command. The Governor has plainly stated that the mine owners should guard their own property during the strike. General Abbey has been instructed to use the soldiers under his command only to:
Obey the call of the sheriffs to put down riots, preserve order, and protect life and property of the employees along with the employers.
Michigan State Militia
Governor Ferris insists that the soldiers must remain neutral, and he has been disturbed to hear that discharged soldiers often sign up to serve as mine guards or deputies. These discharged soldiers have been seen reporting to their new jobs wearing the official uniform of the state of Michigan. The Governor ordered them to end that practice immediately.

Email from Making Change at Walmart:
Thanks for signing up to support Walmart workers as they plan to take action this November 29th, Black Friday, the biggest sales day of the year.
As soon as workers finalize their plans, we’ll be in touch soon with information on how you can help. I wanted to write you to tell you about two major victories we just had.
Carlton Smith worked at Walmart in Los Angeles for nearly 20 years. The company fired him shortly before his planned retirement for being an outspoken member of OUR Walmart and standing up for his coworkers' right to speak out.
The sacrifice made by Carlton and his coworkers is paying off.
Just last week, Walmart announced it would allow more workers to work full-time. A couple of weeks before California passed a bill to raise the minimum wage.
A prominent reporter, Harold Meyerson credited Walmart and fast food strikers with the hike in minimum wage, calling it the "first real victory of the fast-food and Walmart workers who have been staging job actions across the country over the past six months demanding higher wages."
"I'm disappointed and hurt that a company I poured all my energy into for 18 years would illegally fire me for exercising my rights as an American," Carlton says. "But now I know my sacrifice was worth it. We're changing this company and this country."
Thanks to the bravery of workers like Carlton and constant support from people like you, California workers are better off today.
Sometimes the path to victory seems long, but we are well on our way.
Onward,
Making Change at Walmart
