Investigative journalism.
If they really mean it, they will do an in-depth piece on how in the fist-fellating fuck this actually happened.
They may even say that "there will be an internal investigation"
Except, there won't be.
What there will be is a laying of 100% of the blame onto the guy who lied to them.
It's his fault. They TRUSTED him.
And that's what journalism is ALL about.
It isn't about checking your sources.
It isn't about finding all the pertinent facts.
It isn't about keeping a skeptical eye.
It's about Watergate.
It's about making your career on that one take-down story about a corrupt president.
It's about self-glory.
It's about money and fame.
This country.
is now ALL about money and fame.
There will be no soul-searching at CBS.
There will be lots of meetings with their lawyers and muckity-mucks, to assess the possible litigation vulnerability their "mistake" has put the CORPORATION in.
But all mirrors will be painted over, for the time being.
Trust me.
I work at a fucking church.
And it's the same way here.
It's never "our" fault.
That's how institutions survive.
That's how they keep going.
That's how they rot from the inside...............
Peace out.
