Our political system insures the perpetuation of harm because it is a 19th century artifact. Why are we delegating responsibility to a small group of individuals unprepared to cope with the enormity of running a peaceful and successful world? We live in an age where tools of advanced intelligence and precision of action are at our disposal. Of course the tools I am referring to are not computers and robots, but wisdom and compassion. The advancement in global awareness of these precious tools has grown considerably in the last half decade, partly because, having seen the earth from space, we understand better our vulnerability and interdependence.
Building governance founded on compassion and wisdom should be quite simple. There is enough brilliance in our collective thought to create a system for everyone, and that system is everyone. Not through the system of representation, but through the system of presentation. “I am here. I present myself. I am one of many. I am you. You are me. You are all my mother, father, sister, brother, and I am your mother, father, sister, brother.”
Let all of us put our minds together to solve the problems we all face, all of us. Each one of us, children included, no one excluded – not one. All of our minds present. No longer absent. No longer abdicating our responsibility by delegating. The entire body of people on this earth its governing entity. Each one voice respected. Not by the crudest of misrepresentations of who we are – the ballot – but by the hearing of every voice, listening to every voice, and by weighing with deep deliberation. The technology of facilitating that is trifling next to the technology of wisdom. Our basic principle of governing shall be, “In solving a problem, there can be no winners and losers. Everyone must win.” How can that be possible? Because it is a fact, not a theory, not a far off teaching, but real and present and palpable truth that the welfare of each of us is the welfare of all of us, and the suffering of one of us is the suffering of all of us. Why could not now be a time when we evolve to a new awareness of love, and create a world where the chorus of all of our voices can be heard singing far off into space.
This will be seen to be as natural an occurrence as the formation of solar systems with earthlike planets.
