What I really want to see in McDonald's menu is a super-size wage increase for the woefully underpaid hardworking people it employees. I stopped by yesterday at the McDonald's in downtown Oakland (1330 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA), but that item wasn't in the menu yet.
I'm sure it will be in the menu soon because there is a lot of demand for it!
However, what was on the menu was unity and solidarity from activists, workers, and hardworking decent people who are demanding McDonald's employees, and all fast-food restaurants' employees are paid a fair wage.
It was truly amazing to see and feel the energy of the large crowd; to see people, young and old, together, in solidarity, standing up and demanding the fair treatment of hardworking people.
[Yesterday was] the largest strike in the American fast food industry’s history, but we’re just getting started. Join the hundreds of thousands of folks who have told the fast food corporations we work for that it’s time to pay $15 an hour!
I hope you enjoy the video and photos!
Sockpuppets & Trolls Watch: Their aim is to disrupt, to annoy, to introduce "noise" in order to prevent meaningful discussions of issues. Their tactics include ad hominem attacks where instead of addressing issues, they attack the character of people. They also engage in mockery, and logical fallacies. A good source of information about the tactics used by sockpuppets, trolls and hacks is "The 15 Rules of Web Disruption." Once you familiarize yourself with those tactics, it is pretty easy to spot the potential troll. Once spotted, the best thing is to ignore them.
