We all present an image, often people are amazed when they meet us from knowing us only online, how we do not look like (or even act like sometimes) what they pictured we would be like in "real life."
I've been modeming since 1981 or so, so I've met people from BBS's, then D-Dials, and later the Internet since..... and I guess most people say I am the same, relatively, in person as I am online.
So I thought to myself what, if anything, would surprise or shock people, if they knew about me, compared to my online persona.... thus the diary topic. What interests do you have that people would be shocked to learn, based on what you present online?
Maybe you present yourself as a tough-guy but you have a weakness for lap-dogs. Or maybe you have a weakness for golf of all things.... who am I to judge?
Anyways, I thought it would be fun to learn more about the people we "see" day in and day out and learn something we might never have guessed about them.
I will go first.
I am known for posting musical diaries on here, so I guess my interest in music is not surprising, but my interest in 1980s hair metal bands might be. Yes... I grew up and liked, and still do, bands like Twisted Sister. I used to own all their LPs, and still know word-for-word a lot of their songs. When most people think of me they think of Erasure, the Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths, The Communards, etc... when I mention bands like Warrant and Twisted Sister, their jaw drops.
I also grew up with rasslin. I am proud ;) to say I went to Wrestlemania 3, in which Andre the Giant fought Hulk Hogan at the Pontiac Silverdome, which at the time was the largest audience for a "sports" match ever. I still have to catch wrestling when I can, or at least read the results to keep track of who is doing what. I know, odd isn't it? I mean... the next thing you will tell me is that rasslin isn't real or some such nonsense.
The last surprising thing about me is my weakness for such shows as Charlie's Angels I grew up in the 70s and 80s and for some reason there are some camp shows I cannot give up. Most of my diaries on Entertainment reveal my love of 50s-70s classic sitcoms, from the George Burns Show to the Dick Van Dyke Show to Sanford and Son, but somehow Charlie and his Angels found his way in there.
Anyway, that's enough about me. What about you? What kind of hidden joys do you have that people would be surprised to learn about?
