I just wanted to take a minute to let those who might have missed it know about the Save The Environment Diary.
In the first entry, I introduced the diary, gave the text of a letter published by a letters-to-the-editor section as a model for general environmentalism letters or fliers, gave some facts about restoring rainforests that many may not know, and suggested a project for activists.
In the second entry,I wrote about the amazing connection between the meat industry and our carbon footprint that makes vegetarianism or limiting meat-eating seem like a must.
In the third entry,I wrote about the potential for bamboo to reduce the carbon footprint, stop soil erosion, stop deforestation, and as a quick and at least temporary solution to restore rainforests.
Bamboo grows more quickly than trees do, is suited to rainforest climates, absorbs a lot of carbon, and can be used to make furniture and construction beams, so that slower-growing types of trees no longer have to be harvested.
In the fourth entry, I suggested how to start a grassroots clothes recycling project at city buildings. People who live in these areas may have less convenient access to the donation bins that people in the suburbs, where the bins are often in a few different parking lots in each community. So, activists can help out by putting the donation box right in people's lobbies.
Entry five suggested that limiting population may be a necessary part of helping the environment, and suggested enactment of more national laws and incentives and more international treaties on the subject.
Entry six showed the relation between overfishing, hunger, deforestation, using land to raise livestock for meat, water scarcity, and vegetarianism.
Entry seven provides some encouraging statistics about recycling.
Entry eight told about global warming, water conservation and waterless urinals.
Entry nine talked a few cool inventions and tips for living green, water conservation, and saving glaciers and the ice caps.
My planned next diaries will be about energy efficiency, saving our oceans, saving the glaciers, and ideas for activism.
