Julie Andrews, as Maria, sang " ...somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good", as she was acknowledging her love for Captain Von Trapp in "The Sound of Music". He asked her if she had been kissed by a little boy.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ok, we do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

A memory of a childhood sweetheart recently floated up through the years; he was a charmer, blond and sturdy, with never-ending sense of humor. His family went to the same church as mine and he was seated one row over from me in the fourth grade, so I was able to enjoy many of his classroom antics. He had two "first" names, one a traditional boy's name and one that was only used for a girl. How we would giggle at the substitute who got them mixed up and looked around the room for "her"!
One day, in preparation for the next lesson, Miss Paglia asked us to clear our desks. Everything was put away except for the pencil on my heartthrob's desk. Miss P. walked to his desk and took his pencil, but as she returned to her place in the front of the room, he put another short pencil into the slot at he top of his desk. Miss P. marched to his desk and took this pencil as well and turned her back to return to her desk.
She turned suddenly and caught him placing a third pencil in the slot, so she snatched it up and turned again. He had a fourth pencil stub already in place.
Miss P. was a "very serious" teacher, and was decidedly not going to lose the pencil stub battle with a nine year old, so she picked it up and waited. He reached into his desk and retrieved a fifth pencil; she grabbed it and he replaced it. This went on for a few more cycles and then she opened his desk. Inside he had a whole cigar box of tiny pencil stubs! There may have been a hundred or more in the box! She would never have been able to outlast him had she not opened the desk!
The class was in an uproar! We had never seen anything so funny in school before! Miss P. escorted him to the office and returned to a classroom that could not stop giggling, and I had one more reason to be sweet on my childhood crush!
Do you remember having a crush when you were very young?
