As I'm sitting here, across the ocean, a surreal feeling washes over me. It's late at night, I should be going to bed, but like a Hollywood movie my eyes can't tear away from the horrible, violent but oh so attractive scene next on screen: The Sequester, Live!
Like so many of us we don't have the slightest idea of its consequences, the pain and uncertainty it will cause. And like many power-crazed 'ideologues' before us, they don't have a clue either. So, whatever cliff your country decides to run off, know that many people (involuntarily) will follow. Not to be cynical, but that has a real rightwing-feeling to it.
And it scares the shit out of me. Not so much the brinkmanship or the 'last man standing'-attitude, but the lack of willingness to compromise for the sake of you all. It's like a decent guy with a small gun, with a whole village behind him, confronting the small mob with the big mouths and the will to kill.
It should win an Oscar ....
