Where are they? All those republicans who have written English only laws. I was wondering because this caught my attention Rubio to deliver GOP response to Obama's State of the Union.
Now I'm sure you're wondering how I made this leap between seemingly unrelated topics. Well, the story in the Hill article linked above opens with these two sentences
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will deliver the Republican response to President Obama's State of the Union address on Feb. 12.
Rubio's response will be delivered in both English and Spanish, according to Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) office.
.
Shouldn't the English only crowd have their panties in knot over this? If "those" people are going to participate on OUR democracy, they should have to learn English. Don't they think all of the ballots should be English only? Then certainly in the name of consistency they should demand that their politicians give their speeches in English only.
I guess it's okay if they throw out the occasional "¡Hola", or "¿Cómo estás?", or even "Sí se puede!". But any more than that is WAAAY over the line! That's just pandering. I think they should be making a much bigger deal out of this from the way they talk.
But that's just me, and talk is cheap.
