While reading "The Fall of the House of Dixie," by Bruce Levine, I came across this quote by Abraham Lincoln, on page 46, relevant to the Paul Ryan "budget."
"We have just carried an election on principles fairly stated to the people. Now we are told in advance, the government shall be broken up, unless we surrender to those we have beaten."
Lincoln warned in letters that if his party retreated from their efforts, "all our labor is lost and sooner or later must be done over again..."
