Sunday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
I have a name for my sewing/making/formulary/experimentation/crafting room!
A friend suggested "Contrivance Chamber", and that is succinct and descriptory. It covers practically all the things I do there.
When I sell this house and buy a new one (and it looks more and more like I'll be moving to Austin, Texas upon retiring), I will have a Contrivance Chamber.
I need a house with a large kitchen, attached Contrivance Chamber (in fact the kitchen and Contrivance Chamber could be one huge room), library, snuggery (which can double as a guest room), large bathroom (only need one if it's big - I hate bathrooms that are small as if people were ashamed of getting clean and taking care of natural body functions), one bedroom, a fireplace, a yard large enough for hens and possibly a mini-cow (and the zoning to allow them), orchard, and gardens.
And it must have excellent plumbing and wiring and a strong internet/WiFi connection.
Heating, cooling, and washer/dryer/dishwasher hook-ups are also must haves, but if it has excellent wiring, adding those should be no hardship.
A well-appointed 900-1200 sf 2 bed/1bath home should be big enough to do all the hobbies I have and entertain friends.
I'd also like a nice covered back patio, a large sociable front porch, a potting/tool/storage shed, and either a carport or attached garage, but those aren't deal-breakers.
