There is no doubt that the sequester will detrimentally affect many people. People who have no where else to go will see their support system crumbling beneath them. Who cares about longer lines at the airport security checkpoints? I'm talking about people who need food and shelter, some things that I am ashamed to have to mention in this country.
These are the people who have to suffer because the only way we will ever reduce military expenditures in America is by sticking with the sequester.
There is no way, absolutely no way, that we will ever become less militaristic by relying on Congress to cut military spending. No way! Any member of the House of Representatives who advocates substantial cuts in military spending will lose their seat in the next election to a more conservative politician. That means the sequester is our only choice. Cuts in social programs for cuts in military programs.
What a crappy situation this is. Makes me want to go back to milking sheep on Kangaroo Island, and watching the sea lions at Seal Bay. You get a special feeling when you stand at Cape Willoughby, look south, and realize that the next land is Antarctica. Makes you temporarily forget that the rest of the world exists, and that we are ignoring every issue that we have created by the few different DNA we have compared to chimps. You know which DNA I mean. The ones that allowed us to create religion, pollute our living space, shoot our neighbors with automatic weapons, torture others while ignoring those in need, and making reality tv shows.
I alone can't make up for the damage the sequester will do to people. But we must stop wars of choice, and how else is it going to happen?
