I learned this afternoon that MSNBC's Up With Steve Kornacki's show this morning had four segments highlighting North Carolina's government, and how it is now a model for what the Tea Party would do if they controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress. I just finished watching the segments, and I highly recommend them. (This link takes you to his site; the NC segments are five through eight.)
The second of the four segments is an interview with Rev. William Barber, president of the North Carolina NAACP. The other three segments are a panel discussion with Gerrick Brenner, executive director of Progress North Carolina, Penda Hair, co-director at the Advancement Project, North Carolina State Senator Linda Garrou (D), and Rashad Robinson, executive director at Color of Change.
Together, the four segments paint a very good picture of what the Tea Party is trying to do to North Carolina. Kornacki also does a good quick job of explaining how we got here, losing our legislature in 2010 and the governorship in 2012.
And Reverend Barber talked about the efforts to fight back with a two pronged approach of legal battles and grass roots organizing.
This is a great segment, and I thought I would let everyone know about it. Whether you live in North Carolina or anywhere else in the country, this is what the Tea Party is doing in North Carolina now, and it is what the Tea Party would like to do to the entire country.
Thanks for reading,
David
