I do not know if this was diaried. It really is more of an interesting study and quasi-political. Interesting I think for the end of a day Friday.
Today my Mother actually linked me to a rather interesting study:
Students at Humboldt State University in northern California analyzed more than 11 months of Twitter data to locate the biggest pockets of hate speech in America.
For the “Geography of Hate” project, students manually sifted through more than 150,000 tweets containing hateful speech targeting sexuality, race, and disability. Student read each tweet to determine whether the slur was used in a positive, negative, or neutral manner. Sample keywords included “homo,” “n***,” and “cripple.”

The Map Below the Seal of Approval will not at all surprise.

Again for a Friday not much of a Diary, and not shocking at all to me. I did think it was interesting how it was done and well trying to avoid confirmation bias but most all studies show things like this.
I thought it would be an interesting topic, as gay rights are so important and that is one of the terms you can look at (used pejoratively on the interactive map).
Social media is great its sad when it just allows you to link up with other people to normalize your bigoted beliefs. Interestingly they seem to originate from the usual suspects.
Have a good weekend.
