The evil face of the NRA
Jim Porter has been elected as the NRA's new president, although certifiable whackjob and executive vice president Wayne LaPierre will remain the public clown face of the organization. As an introduction of the new president, the NRA's outgoing president, David Keene, casually tossed off this chilling statement:
"At this stage in the NRA's history, Jim Porter will be the perfect match for president," Keene told the Washington Times' Emily Miller, who first reported the news. "As we are likely to win most of the legislative battles in Congress, we will have to move to courts to undo the restrictions placed on gun owners’ rights in New York, Connecticut, Maryland and Colorado."

These four states are blue states, of course, so it could be, as suggested in the comments, a bluff to raise more money from crazed, unhappy gun nuts. But the arrogance of "We are likely to win..in Congress" needs to be addressed. The dropping poll numbers of Flake, Ayotte, et al helps, but the backlash needs to continue.
