Hassan Rohani is a candidate from the reformist party which bodes well for diplomatic relations. If he can achieve consensus with the unelected religious clerics there pulling strings. He is apparently well educated and has had a variety of interests he has a doctorate in law from Glasgow and he has also been on nuclear negotiations.
According to reformist politician, Mohammad-Sadegh Javadi-Hesar: “Mr Rohani is now a compromise candidate and part of reformists’ efforts to reach some kind of reconciliation with the regime over their minimum demands."
During his campaign to establish a “government of hope and prudence”, Rohani vowed to “reconcile with the world”. He may well dream of ending Iran’s isolation at the world stage, but more important – and difficult - for him would be to get the blessings of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader.
Cleric and former nuclear negotiator Hassan Rohani enjoys the support of many liberal-minded Iranians and moderates and reformists in his bid to become president of the Islamic Republic. Rohani’s credentials include membership in the Assembly of Experts and Expediency Council and Supreme National Security Council.
His track record proves his talent for working effectively with various factions, and, more than other candidates, his attitude – at age 64 – for change, both in Iran’s internal policy and internationally.
His degrees in law include a doctorate from Scotland’s Glasgow Caledonian University.
Let us hope that his vision will allow the chains of political pandering to fall away. I'm really tired of not knowing about parts of our world because someone doesn't like them here.
