Large Marg rolling to NN2013
I won't kid you. Gordon Soderberg's nerves are frayed. He's been staying with me while
The Veteran Green Bus - affectionately known as
Large Marg - is getting normal, planned maintenance. When the "patient" is a 33 year old bus, getting parts can be tricky - and getting them to the mechanic on time even trickier. This morning one key part has been located, and is being Fed-Ex'ed. Then it's a matter of reassembling the engine, testing it, and testing it again. As I said, Gordon's nerves are frayed.
The Hot Skinny on Soderberg
Since 1994 Soderberg has been a tireless advocate for a greener environment. Prior to that . . . amazing. In the Navy Gordon was a Corpsman [
by the way - Happy Corpsman's Birthday. The Corpsmen were founded by Pres. McKinley in 1898] and a surgical nurse. Then he had a near fatal collision with a wedding cake while riding his Rice Rocket. (You have to ask him about that) Then he and his older brother started Twocan Studios - a multi-media company in association with Apple. After that he moved up to Humboldt College of the Redwoods to teach [
not what you might predict from a kid with a GED]. And then there was more stuff . . .
But, see that Star over thar
<-? Help me please to raise enough money to get those decals for
Large Marg. Make her all pretty for the Convention. Something like this
Click on the little bitty clip board and you will see Large Marg in all her glory. All of those beauty marks come to less than $900. We are getting pretty damn close. All we need tonight is $209. Here is where to get Large Marg all gussied up.
A message from Gordon Soderberg
United Peace Relief's Veterans Green Bus Project empowers Veterans to continue their service by helping communities recover from natural and man-made disasters with sustainable energy solutions reducing the cost of fuel for organizations transporting tools, supplies and volunteers by up to 90%.
The Veterans Green Bus Project provides sustainable transportation fuel and electrical power for first responders In the event a national disaster occurs and demonstrates how to produce emergency fuel for transportation, emergency generators and off road equipment from used cooking oil. The goal is to train veterans in operating the bus, maintaining its alternative power and communications systems and cooking facilities and serve the community at large by providing emergency aid while demonstrating sustainable energy solutions.
To use the Veterans Green Bus as a research and development vehicle for disaster relief efforts effectively, it needs to be safe, provide a needed service and demonstrate a sustainable operational plan before we put it out as a model for others to follow.
Thank you for your support - and your donation,
