No one can deny the awesome force of peace that Nelson Mandela has been throughout his lifetime. His constant sacrifice and bold leadership have fundamentally altered the state of human rights the world over.
Mandela Day is an international day of action that was created on Mr. Mandela's birthday to honor his 67 years of bettering lives across the planet. On this day, people across the planet vow to complete a simple task: 67 minutes of volunteer work in honor of Madiba's 67 years of service.
Here at We Act Radio, in Washington, DC's historic Anacostia neighborhood, we're celebrating Madiba's 95th Birthday with a full 24 hours of tributes to his proud tradition of advancing the case of equality and peace. Along with an audio documentary created by members of our media training program through the DC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), we will be airing a special edition of the Rock Newman Show at 5 pm ET from Busboys & Poets with a number guests, including South African Ambassador to the United States Ebrahim Rasool, and Nicole Lee, Executive Director of TransAfrica.
Join us in celebrating Nelson Mandela's legacy and listen in.
