I just joined the network today and hope to meet some interesting people and to hear about some good new reads. I also wanted to pitch my own, for anyone interested in picking up a new book! I thought the book would be especially meaningful for those of you involved in progressive change.
A Land of Our Own is the story of a boy born as a slave into a penal colony. The book chronicles his escape, a journey which turns him from a soldier in a rebel army into a hideaway disguised in hostile towns and villages, from a spy in the center of an enemy castle to a hero on the field-- but which, at the end, leaves him with more questions and fewer answers than he set out with. It has been called "the newest classic" in the genre and is the first book in a new series, The Kingdom of the Free.
You should all check out the website! You can preview and buy the book there, or you can preview the first 30 pages on Amazon and buy it there.

Engage me! I am not here to advertise, so let me know what you think of the book or the genre!
The book is somewhat experimental in that everything was built from the ground up. The chief editor and chief asst. editor were both writers themselves. The artist was an art student from the other side of the ocean (Scotland). The reviewers were literary bugs who sounded interested in the book before it was even published. We, and another dozen individuals, worked together for almost 10 years to produce this book, and when we did, I decided to publish it under my own name and to try and market it from the ground up (I used to work as a Chief of Marketing). Everything from advertising to website design is by myself and those who volunteer to help. I've received incredible reader reviews for the book, and it has been an amazing journey -- we couldn't be more proud of what we've produced. I hope you can become a part of it!
Hope to hear back from you!
Matt
