When George W Bush and Mitt Romney ran for president, their supporters touted the "business experience" that each man brought to the table as qualification for the Oval Office.
When Milly Silva was tapped by Barbara Buono to run for Lieutenant Governor, a Christie spokesman said Silva "is wholly unqualified" for that office.
That's a double standard - and a sexist one. Silva is an executive in a labor union - a position across the table from the "management" types in a business, but she's a high-powered manager just the same. There's not much difference between the skills needed to run a commercial business and the skills needed to run a labor union.
This is my second interview with Silva. I've also spoken with her off camera on a few occasions. She has the intelligence, demeanor, and work ethic to be our governor should that become necessary. Of those three attributes, Chris Christie has only one - intelligence. His demeanor and work ethic belie the requirements of his position.
I spoke with Silva late Monday at a Starbuck's in Central Jersey.
