Awwww, how I yearn for the good old days of the Framers of our Constitution. When the wealthy and sanctimonious patrician class lived in spectacular mansions and splendid plantations and were catered to by an army of no-wage slaves.
A noble time when intermingling of the classes was frowned upon.
A nostalgic period when children had all the God-given rights of adults: a right to toil away their lives in factories seven days a week in low-wage jobs, the right to be beaten senseless by harsh taskmasters or desperately poor parents with no hope of improving their lives, a right to be denied educational opportunities because they had the misfortune of being born to poor people.
To a glorious period of living in mud huts, log cabins, igloos, teepees, tents, remote social campsites, or tenements with no social services like electricity, gas, clean water, and sewer facilities to flush away notoriously feculent bodily fluids and excrement.
A magnificent time of wading through manure that was unceremoniously dumped in the streets by humans, horses, dogs, cats, rats, raccoons, rabbits, cows…you get the picture.
A period of love and compassion that gave women the right to make their own choices as long as they didn’t include fantastically absurd ideas like equality, social interaction beyond the realm of the household, voting, education, working (except as homeslaves), and birth control.
An exalted time of dialogue between the sexes that was dominated by males and the vocabulary of the females consisted of simple phrases like: “Are you hungry?” “Yes, sir.” “No, sir.” “I ironed your suit.” Etc.
A sublime time of socially acceptable corporal punishment for those women who forgot their place in society, or forgot to bake the biscuits.
Awww, the good old days.
