Last year it was Mitt Romney. Now it's John Boehner.
Here's
example #231,383 for the "Republicans have no shame" file:
Diving headfirst into his annual August fundraising spree, House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) spent Tuesday golfing with business mogul Donald Trump in New Jersey.
So why did Boehner decide to hit the links with the GOP's most prominent conspiracy theorist? Well, between Trump's hair and Boehner's tan, it's obvious that both men have a lot beauty tips to trade, but the real reason appears to be Trump's $100,000 donation to Boehner's Super PAC. When it comes to national politics, Trump might be a national embarrassment, but when it comes to the GOP, he's a treasure—literally.
My favorite part of the story is the correction that Politico ran on its article about the whole thing:
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly described Trump as a failed presidential candidate. He has flirted repeatedly with running but never declared.
The article now refers to Trump as a "perennial presidential tease," which I guess is accurate. Because for all his talk about wanting to run for president, Trump has always failed to do it.
