One of the most obnoxious policies is stop and frisk. My insinuation is that the President himself could not walk the streets of NYC without getting stopped and groped.
Let's face it, he has the physique of a methhead, walks slightly slouched and most of all (surprise) he's black. Which of those characteristics gets him frisked?
Can a black man of means walk the streets of Manhattan in common clothing and not get frisked? Well as the President said in his speech concerning the Travon Martin, if the answer is ambiguous then we should review the law (policy).
Let me say that I mean common clothing is jeans and a hoodie. Shall we expect the same respect for the attire as we would for any woman in that it is not the attire that gets you raped. Well from the evidence, no. I do not make an equivalence between rape and frisk other than it is an involuntary invasion of your body space.
You might ask where such an outlook comes from; it's easy. I'm a 60 yr old WASP ... hippie. 'nuf said.
Male, black, and in a hoodie is suspect enough.
How do we justify such a policy?
I despise this policy and I refuse to visit NYC as long as it is in place. That said I don't have a lot of reason to visit until my sister calls for a meetup.
