A federal district Judge in Indiana has issued a temporary restraining order indicating that the state of Indiana must recognize the marriage of a lesbian couple's marriage immediately. One of the ladies is terminally ill. The order will last for 28 days, at which time Judge Richard Young will hold a hearing for a preliminary injunction. Amy Sandler and Niki Quasney were married in Massachusettes. Quasney was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2009.
The couple argued that the request is about dignity and recognition of a family.
