Federal judge throws out Ron Johnson's Obamacare lawsuit
A federal judge threw out a lawsuit Monday brought by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson and one of his aides attempting to force members of Congress and their staffs to stop getting subsidies for their health insurance under Obamacare.
Johnson, a Republican from Oshkosh, argued that members of Congress and their staffs were required to get insurance on their own under the Affordable Care Act, also widely known as Obamacare. But U.S. District Judge William Griesbach in Green Bay ruled Monday that Johnson and his aide, Brooke Ericson, didn't have legal standing to bring their case because they hadn't been injured.
"Given that the plaintiffs receive, at worst, a benefit, they cannot claim to be injured under an equal protection theory," Griesbach wrote in his 20-page decision.
Heh - who could have predicted that?

Earlier this year, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) thought he’d come up with a great idea: he’d file a lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act in the hopes of making coverage more expensive for Capitol Hill staff. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, a Republican from Johnson’s home state of Wisconsin, conceded the senator’s lawsuit was “frivolous” and an “unfortunate political stunt.”
But even Captain Obvious couldn't stop
38 Congressional Republicans from joining in on Johnson's suit.
Incidentally, the case was heard in Green Bay by a Bush appointee.
Johnson is in the 4th year of his first 6 year term, and this ludicrous stunt is by far his highest-profile activity to-date. He should be high on the list of Democratic challenges in 2016, as he has done absolutely nothing for the people of Wisconsin. Russ Feingold is already being lined up for a grudge match.
