The story of Dr. Jose Manuel Mireles, the public face of the Autodefensa movement in the Mexican State of Michoacán, was told here on July 6: Michoacán Autodefensa leader arrested and charged. Nothing of substance has changed since then. Dr. Mireles is still incarcerated, he still has health problems, and there is some evidence that he has been tortured.
