Today, the memorial for Mike Brown was burned. The police are claiming that it was an accident caused by candles. The people are saying they smelled some kind of accelerant at the scene. There are pictures of cops just watching the makeshift memorial burn.
Now, it appears all hell is breaking loose in Ferguson tonight. On twitter there are reports that shots have been fired (live ammo), but no confirmation yet on who is actually shooting.
It also appears the the cops have brought the dogs again.
But that is not all . . .
In an act of unconscionable stupidity and tone deafness, an officer was (allegedly) found to be wearing an I am Darren Wilson bracelet. It is one of those plastic/rubber bracelets that have become popular with people who are trying to make people aware of their cause.
Which leads me to assume that there are a lot more people who have and/or are wearing the bracelets.
Here is the picture:
Unbelievable
No wonder the people are still protesting. This just shows that there are policeman in St Louis who believe it is perfectly fine to shoot an unarmed black teenager in broaud daylight, in cold blood, in the middle of the street.
I am not surprised I am I hearing the song 'I shot a man . . . just to watch him die', playing over and over in my head.
Note 1: Edited to add link to the picture and allegedly to the text. Suggestions from Little, who has noted that the photo could be faked.
Note 2: Thanks for the rec list, my 3rd Diary - I am amazed. I am heading of to get some sleep, I will check in for comments in the morning. Thanks again, SW
Update:
It appears that this is true. Here is a tweet from Antonio French, an Alderman from St Louis, who said Johnson will be talking to the police who were wearing the armbands.
If it wasn't real, I don't think Johnson would have responded at all. And French has been a consistently reliable source.
Update 2: In Little's comment below, there are links to additional sources who confirm that Johnson indicated there are police officers with these bracelets
