With gay marriage spreading faster than a swine flu epidemic, vendors are aware that homophobic photographers, officiants and bakers can make a challenging and stressful task of planning and executing a wedding additionally stressful.
Sadly, day after day we have to see loving gay couples dealing with the horrors of homophobic photographer who refuses to shoot a wedding because of their "religious beliefs". A bakery writing horrid things on anniversary cake for a lesbian couple. Who needs that nonsense?
Gay wedding vendors like Pridezillas.com offer gay friendly services from gay owned or friendly vendors. Makes for a drama free day. ChicagoGayWeddingPhotographer.com takes it a step further. Mike Lackovich, photographer says "We have planned weddings before here in Chicago. Most people don't care that two men are planning a wedding. We do frequently run into calls not returned from a florist or a baker that would probably be returned for a straight wedding. We just find another vendor that can do it better."
"We are not going to pull party poopers into peoples special day. We all have better things to channel our energy into than getting sucked into the hate game they promote. It is really magical to see two people stand before friends and family baring their souls at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives and express their love and commitment to each other. It is hard to hold back the tears of joy and keep photographing."
Alliances with officiants, bakers, printers, venues, etc are growing at a swift pace.
Best advice when encountering a homophobe, hang up and Google again! Do not engage these people. Eventually, they will go out of business when your recommend gay vendors to your straight friends and family.
