Today we have Peter Fenn, US News, weighing-in with a factually challenged piece on the 1% cut to the military pension Cost Of Living Adjustment that was written into law on Dec 26, 2013. He is critical of Congress for:
....rejecting the advice of the Department of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the military establishment to pare back benefits.
He uses large, scary numbers to persuade his readers into thinking the sky is falling because Congress is refusing to -- make the tough choices on military pay and compensation. He wants Congress to stick to its guns and to do the
right thing.
He certainly is entitled to his opinion.
It's ironic though on his previous US News post, 10 Ways to Combat US Income Inequality in 2014, he has many sound recommendations on bringing up the shrinking middle-class. He tells us on number 4:
Continue to promote equal pay for equal work, reducing the disparity between male and female workers.
On one hand he is for boosting the number of people into the middle-class by raising salaries but on another he wants to slash salaries for active duty and military retirees. You cant make this stuff up.
The secret is the Washington establishment are eager to turn over the military retirement system over to Wall Street crowd in the form of 401(k)s. These programs are just plain bad.
