Ok I'm not liking this James Kimber. Yes, he served his country honorably but that fundraiser on January 23rd was disrespectful and this kickoff event is just as reprehensible. John McCain should have been elected in 2008 because then we could have bombed Iran.
Duncan D. Hunter may be continuing the Hunter dynasty in California's 50th Congressional District and keeping it at the R+12 PVI per Cook Report.
However, not too long after the January 23rd kickoff fundraiser in Temescula, it looks Democratic Candidate James Kimber is holding another kickoff event in Escondido, CA this Thursday, January 30th at Cordiano Winery.

Judging by the CA Voter Registration Statistics data from February 2013 (the most recent data on the website), the following is evident in CA-50:
http://www.sos.ca.gov/...
Democratic: 25.99%
Republican: 46.02%
Independent: 22.33%
Ideally, in a hypothetical, if you had a Democratic candidate get all of the Democratic and Independent votes vs. Duncan D. Hunter, he/she would win roughly 48% of the votes vs. Hunter winning 46% of the votes.
However, this also indicates that the CA-50 is definitely one heck of a red district, even redder than Darrell Issa's CA-49 Congressional district and Doug LaMalfa's CA-01 Congressional District. The R+12 rating by Cook Report for CA-50 is definitely no joke so regardless of what's going on in the campaign activities for James Kimber, it's certainly not going to be an easy race by a long shot if he were to ever win.
On the other hand, in doing research on Kimber he appears to be a very active campaigner in CA-50 and has been doing so since early 2013. He has also received over 11,000 Likes on Facebook so assuming they're all legit and from individual people who are supportive of Kimber's campaign, he's certainly building a lot of support.
However, in the meantime, CA-50 is still going to be a difficult race anyhow so Kimber should be commended for spending quite some time building his campaign for months and continuing to be in it for the long haul for the remainder of the 2014 election season. We'll see how CA Voter Registration Statistics and the Nov 4th election results fare out given the makeup of CA-50.
