So, does your dog crimp one off facing north and south?
Srsly, a scientific article claims when dogs drop a deuce they orient themselves north and south so as to align themselves with the Earth's magnetic fields before they free the chocolate hostages. I have not noticed this in my dogs. I have now been paying attention however since reading this article. Today I watched Sancho squeeze out the steaming butt mustard. His head was facing SSE. which is pretty damned close to south. That meant his butt was facing NNW as he gave birth to the spineless brown fish. Is this article legit or is it blowing mud?
Have you noticed when your dogs stall a brown sedan if they are facing north and south?
The researchers measured the direction of the body axis of 70 different dogs while they were off-leash during 1,893 acts of defecation and 5,582 acts of urination over a two-year period. They found that, under calm magnetic field conditions, dogs prefer to orient their bodies along the North-South axis when they poop. However, this behavior did not occur during unstable magnetic field conditions, and the best predictor for this change of behavior was the rate of change of magnetic declination.
That's a lot of studying dogs laying some wolf bait. And why? I've often wondered who gets these bright ideas. "Hey, I'm gonna do my dissertation on how dogs pump clumps of dump out of their rumps."
Do they really even know why dogs launch torpedoes in alignment with the magnetic fields? No they don't. Now I've gotta do my own personal little study. I'll tell you this much, dogs don't align themselves with anything when they find and then eat "kitty truffles."
Here's the article for those that have some time to waste (get it waste...hahaha!):

OK, caption this photo below armed with your new found knowledge about how dogs go about lengthening their spine. Fortunately we do have an expert in all things scat...she lives in Arizona. Maybe she'll enlighten us with her expertise on this subject matter.
So how do your dogs pinch loaves? Someone wants to know.
