The NRA is running an ad against Bruce Braley and Mary Landrieu that has been called a lie by the top fact checkers, as called out by president of Everytown for Gun Safety (Mike Bloomberg's and Shannon Watt's group), John Feinblatt:
The Washington Post gave the Louisiana version of the ad "Four Pinocchios." That's the score it reserves for whoppers.
PolitiFact's rating was an equally scathing "Pants on Fire."
FactCheck.org was slightly more polite about it, calling the ad "a long stretch" that "goes far beyond the facts."
TIME named the NRA's political spot one of the five most dishonest ads of the election season.
So, the NRA being the NRA (ie, a cult), it doubles down on the lie and keeps running it.

Why is the NRA losing it's mind over Braley and Landrieu? Because they co-sponsored and/or voted for background check legislation that is supported by 90% of Americans.
As Feinblatt puts it:
A vote for background checks is a vote for public safety. It's a vote against the status quo — against letting felons, domestic abusers and the seriously mentally ill buy guns without a background check, no questions asked.
There's reality and then there's life inside the NRA bubble - a corrupt trade organization that seeks profits for the companies it represents over the safety of the 90% who are not part of its cult. As Feinblatt puts it:
The sky is blue.
The Cubs won't win the World Series this year.
A vote for background checks has nothing to do with taking away your gun rights.
Don't let the NRA's leadership tell you any different.
I encourage you to read this common sense article written by Feinblatt and support Braley and Landrieu in their tough Senate campaigns:
