Yesterday, the DSCC "pushed back" (a.k.a. did damage control) after word spread that they did not purchase any new television ad time on behalf of Allison Grimes in Kentucky's senate race.
From DSCC Chair, Michael Bennet via Politico:
“There’s been a lot of misinformation, and the fact is that we continue to invest every day in Kentucky,” said Bennet. “We’ve invested millions on the air and continue to invest in the largest Kentucky get-out-the-vote operation ever. Our supporters across the country recognize how important the Kentucky race is, and with their support, we will be able to continue our work electing Alison Lundergan Grimes to the Senate." The article mentions that the DSCC is still polling the race, and the committee's executive director, Guy Cecil, tweeted on tuesday that $300,000 had just been wired to Kentucky for GOTV efforts. Kentucky is one of this year's battleground states that the DSCC is working hard in to up the democrats ground game through the
Bannock Street Project.
There are other progressive groups invested in Kentucky. Moveon.org's Voters Rising project is organizing GOTV calls to Kentucky voters, and Democracy for America is investing $500,000 in field organizing to defeat McConnell.
With a new public poll out this morning showing Grimes ahead of McConnell by 46% to 44%, maybe the DSCC will jump on the airwaves in Kentucky again.
