A week after shooting dead a Palestinian 13 year-old for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails, the Israeli army has shot dead another teenager. This time the dead child is 14 year-old Orwah Hammad, born in New Orleans and a US-citizen. According to The Guardian:
Hammad’s cousin Moath said he was among a group of Palestinians who were throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers. A US state department official confirmed that the teenager was an American citizen.
Hammad is the second teen to be killed by army fire in eight days. A 13-year-old was killed last week in a West Bank village. Another 12 Palestinians were wounded in the clashes on Friday, a hospital official said.
The Israeli military said soldiers “prevented an attack” by opening fire on a Palestinian who was throwing firebombs at traffic on a highway on Friday evening.
Of course, the usual suspects will pile in to justify the killing: 'He had it coming; he was throwing Molotov cocktails' (allegedly).
Really? Why is it that the security forces of Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and countless other nations are able to deal with youths throwing Molotov cocktails without shooting anyone dead, but Israel's army ( 'the most moral army in the world' as the butchers of over 2000 Gazan civilians are called by their cheerleaders), can't seem to manage any disturbance without killing Palestinians?
Inquiring minds want to know.
